Yesterday we pretty much harvested the remainder of our garden (corn and winter squash are both still out there, as well as some t'maters). Here is what we got:
| Tyler as "Produce Guard" |
| Tons of BEAUTIFUL carrots! Will plant more of these next year. |
| The turkeys took some of our taters... but we got 2 buckets full and they were so fun to dig up! |
| More zucs, cucs, and summer squash... |
| The t'maters are so super yummy! |
| Lots of yellow and red onions |
We will be processing carrots tonight and making 3 gallons of corn chowder to freeze. Lots of veggies have been brought to school to share - and they go quick! Now that we have survived one growing season we'll have a better idea of what and how much to plant next year!
On a side note... my allergies have been pretty awful recently, especially at night right before going to bed. I went back to the asthma/allergy doc who gave me a bazillion prescriptions (well, five Rx, which is sort of a bazillion!). Anyway, I picked them up from the pharmacy last night and was shocked to see that a one-months supply of eye drops cost $80! Look at this tiny bottle:
I see no reason why a bottle that small should cost so much... thankfully, two of my other prescriptions were free and the fourth was only $15.
LOVE your new blog title photo. Amazing! Your garden harvest is also amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlso enjoyed your weddng photos in the other post. So many!
Hope your allergy meds make you more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteYour garden certainly is something to be proud of. Makes my little garden look pitiful!
