Well, I started a really positive blog post a couple days ago and was slowly getting it done, but then we got news last night that Caroline needed to go back under the heat lamp (she had been moved into a crib and clothes yesterday) and that her feedings were being stopped because she was throwing up. She also had 7 apnea/brady episodes overnight (although none since 7:30AM). She was taken off of the nasal cannula and caffeine Monday or Tuesday (can't remember) so perhaps the increase in A's and B's is coming from that? We are hoping that she will poop today before her 2PM x-ray and that everything will be resolved. What a bummer...
Perhaps by tonight I will have better news...
Day 17
Saying goodbye to Auntie Katie
No more nasal cannula! (And she pulled out her feeding tube...)
Day 18 - wearing clothes for the first time!
Butterfly bottom
Attempting to stay warm without the heat lamp - and she passed for one day.
Day 19 - upgraded to a crib (for a day)
One of the nurses found her a fancy hat
Adorable for sure... but naked again today.
Thank you for the beautiful photos of you all! Caroline looks so cute in her outfit and frilly cap! 1 step forward, 2 steps back, but hopefully she will get back on track and you all can breathe a sigh of relief soon. Love the crib! Before you know it, she will be in her own at home! Love, Martha
ReplyDeleteYou are hanging in there so well Aimee and Tyler. After recently reading my sister-in-law's journal (kept when her granddaugher -born at 1 lb. 3 oz.- was in the NICU in Burlington), I know that the setbacks are to be expected. But that girl is 10 now, and THRIVING!!! Caroline has made so much progress, so we can all be grateful for that. She is beautiful! Love the photo of the three of you!
ReplyDeleteWe will continue praying for progress!
Love to all of you,
Mary :)
Hi Aimee and Tyler and Caroline,
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures. Hope it is just a short step back, and soon moving forward again. She is so precious. Love to you all,
Joanie
Gosh, she's cute! Hope she's on the "up" again real soon!
ReplyDeleteShe is just the cutest little thing. She looks like a princess in her new clothes. I haven't had preemies, so I won't pretend to know what I'm talking about on that front, but in general with babies and their development, that's how it goes - you have some good days and some bad days. Then you have more good days and fewer bad days. Then pretty soon they're all good days. Even though Caroline's challenges are bigger than other babies, I bet she'll have more and more good days, and fewer bad days. Thinking of you guys all the time. Love the photo of the 3 of you.
ReplyDeleteKeeping the sweet princess Caroline in my thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteLove, auntie laura
