Caroline was the cutest baby in the NICU today! Although another baby girl was said to have the funniest costume (her parents dressed her up as her surgeon complete with mustache and John Deere surgery hat!), Caroline got the most complements for cutest baby in her little owl sleeper. Too bad she also heated up to 99.6 degrees and had to be taken out of the outfit by late afternoon! At Children's all the kids (outside of the NICU) dress up and go to 30+ stations around the hospital to trick-or-treat. It was really awesome to be there witnessing so many kids having fun in the midst of medical treatment.

One of my favorite nurses: Noelle with our starving owl... we should have dressed her up as a piglet!

Caroline is just as excited as I was about Tyler's close-up shot... yuck!
We spent the last 4 nights without heat in our room because the people next to us controlled the thermostat and were obviously Eskimos. It was a pain packing up once again to move to a new room but at least we now have heat - and a twin bed. Oh well, you can't have it all I suppose! After our meeting with endocrine today it looks like we will definitely be coming home sometime this week, perhaps Wednesday but possibly Thursday or Friday depending on Caroline's labs. We are basically all set to go - car seat installed, car seat test passed, follow-up appointments made, prescriptions filled and almost all picked up. Our nurse practitioner has been working HARD to get everything in order for discharge! Even our pediatrician stopped by for a visit yesterday to see how things were going. (And in really great news, I've gotten the okay to start introducing breastfeeding again. I'm not sure how Caroline will do after having the bottle all this time but we're going to try it!)

Is this the face of a baby who wants to go home or what?!?
She's the cutest Halloween girl ever. Can't wait for her to be home.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she likes the car seat.
She looks like she's clicking her heals together and chanting "There's no place like home....", and how sweet that will be for all 3 of you. This is like the last .2 of the Boston Marathon, when you turn the corner onto Boylston, you've endured something many haven't or couldn't, and at that moment there is a rush throughout your body to get you to the finish line, knowing your family and friends are there among the crowd cheering for you.
ReplyDeleteWe are all your biggest fans and cheering for Caroline, you and Tyler in your own Boston Marathon.
We love you.

She is just too darn cute! Hoping that you guys get cleared for heading home on the soon side. What a great crew you've had at Children's!
ReplyDeleteHip Hip Hoooooray! Your adorable little owl is about to take flight! We are all excited to hear the good news! Can't wait to see photos of her in her home nest! How nice that your hospital can celebrate Halloween! I wore my pumpkin hat all day and eve at work! It made my temp go up too, but fun for the kids, especially new immigrants who must've thought I was nuts! Love, Martha
ReplyDeleteGlad things look to be progressing towards going home. Glad you also have a room where you control the heat!
ReplyDeleteLittle Caroline looks adorable dressed for Halloween!
Caroline does make the cutest little owl! I am so tickled to think you are so close to coming home--it has been a long haul! You have been so right there, hardworking and committed every step of the way, Aimee and Tyler. I am sure it will be a little scary after being in hospitals for all these weeks, but I bet all three of you are ready!!!
ReplyDeletePS..I loved hearing about how Children's celebrates Halloween!
Love, Joanie
