Boston and Thanksgiving

Tyler, Caroline and I arrived home safely from Boston last night. All of Caroline's appointments went well, although we were bummed to hear that we must come back Dec. 8 for an EEG - it would have been better for them to have scheduled it while we were there yesterday. If all looks good on the EEG we can begin tapering off on her anti-seizure medication. The surgeons signed off on her as expected, so no more appointments with them unless something goes wrong with her colon unexpectedly. They would like to see her gain more weight though so we did start adding the 26 calories back to her breast milk (we had reduced it to 24 cal. when she was being fussy with eating - but so far she has been good with 26 cal. all day). Our endocrine appointment also went well... no news to report there. It was wonderful being there as a family; it certainly was easier for me to have Tyler there!

First time in a hotel and Caroline goes nuts! :)
Today we hosted a small gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was the first time that Grandpa Dennis had seen Caroline since the week of her birth and the first time both he and Uncle Gabe got to hold her. I got some pictures but hopefully will get more from Dennis, Susie and Gabe. It was a really nice time celebrating all that we have to be thankful for this year - which is a lot!

No pictures of Fred as he was out being a VIP at Lee Ann and Donna's family gathering!

Caroline's Great Aunt Susie made this beautiful hat for Caroline... while it's a tad too big it fits better than her newborn hats!

Peek-a-Boo

This is a technique we call "The Owl." It works to calm her down during her fussy time each night!

My co-workers Lisa and Donna dropped off some gifts for Caroline last week that were so cute we had to take pictures. Here is Caroline is her new skinny jeans:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  1. All Caroline needs to do to gain weight is to eat some of Jeanne's Pumpkin trifle that she made for our Thanksgiving feast! It had gingerbread (made by Katie) layered with pudding and whipped cream (flavored with rum!) Yummy!! Glad to hear that you can say goodbye to the surgeons, and hopefully put the colon past behind you. So nice that you had family yesterday to celebrate Caroline's first Thanksgiving!! Love, Martha

  3. Caroline, you sure do rock those "skinny jeans"! I love the picture of Tyler and Caroline doing the "Owl" technique. Robin was fussy at night, usually right when I was trying to get supper! Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.

  6. What a treat for you all to be together for Thanksgiving. Caroline sure does have an expressive face. Adorable.

Wish I had known about "the owl" when Cole used to get fussy every evening between 4 and 6:00.

    Happy Belated Thanksgiving

Loved the pic of her relaxing at the hotel with room service and the remote!! And it looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...wonder if Susie brought the turkey plates for Gabe?
Great, great news in Boston, too!! So much to be thankful for! Hurrah!
