Waiting on results

We are waiting for Caroline's biopsy results from yesterday, but in the meantime I wanted to post a quick update in case you didn't already see it on FB or in an email or hear it already on the phone!

Everything went well yesterday. Caroline is a trooper! It was a long day, especially with the time change but by last night Caroline and I were both back to normal. She did great with the apple juice; either she got her Dad's taste buds and thinks everything is good or she really did love it because she sucked it down fast! The procedure itself was quick. I got to hold her while they gassed her which was FREAKY! One minute she was fighting the mask and the next asleep in my arms. She woke up easily on her own and immediately wanted her milk.

The doctor found a small polyp which she removed and sent to the lab. She thinks that the polyp was probably caused by a stitch getting irritated after her surgery and NOT the cause of the bleeding. She also found several areas of irritation caused from pushing too hard to poop. The lab results will tell us whether or not Caroline has a food allergy which would cause the pushing. It could also be that Caroline did actually have an initial virus causing diarrhea, which irritated her and then caused her to push more... resulting in more irritation. The doctor described this as a snowball effect. Either way we can fix the problem with some Imodium for now, and with food once we know what's okay to feed her.

She's waking up from her nap now!

  1. Thanks for the update Aimee. I've been wondering how things went. Even though you don't have the lab results, at least it doesn't sound like they suspect anything too serious. Hope Caroline is feeling better.

Heather wants to come babysit sometime!(Maybe after cold and flu season is over.)

We appreciate the update, Aimee. We did see your comment on Facebook last night, but were interested in all the details.

Glad both of you are feeling back to normal again.

  3. Aimee, I am glad that you are both home, and hopefully this will pass (as well as any constipation that may be causing the bleeding!?). We get lots of calls about this. Hope Caroline will be able to advance to cereal soon. Hope this nice weather cheers you all! Love, Martha
